Dispatches from a World Going Mad & Madder

As the culture wars continue to rage in the USA, the good people of Britain are fighting their own battles with woke institutions and powerful individuals who, whether knowingly or not, are attempting to tear society apart at the seams. Following are three examples, along with a brief report on who’s pushing back and how.

Sexualization Ed

In Scotland, the leftist Scottish National Party (SNP), under the aegis of Nicola Sturgeon, has appointed Dr. Colin Morrison to oversee a new sex education curriculum for primary and secondary pupils which would make anyone with half a conscience sick to his stomach.

Morrison wrote a “thesis” back in 2011, for which he was awarded a doctorate in education. In “From disability to capability: sex and relationship learning for children and young people with a learning disability,” he outlined the need to break down the barrier between childhood and sexuality. In a familiar tactic used by advocates for child sexuality, Morrison quotes a number of historical figures to support his ideas.

Here’s an excerpt in which Morrison decries the “growing gulf between childhood (as something special and different) and sexuality”:

This idea of children as separate creates challenges, particularly if human capability theory influences the way in which we construct learning opportunities. Human capability approaches, and indeed notions of sexual rights, encourage us to see learning about entitlements to good reproductive health, to freedom from sexual violence, to love, to sexual satisfaction as appropriate elements of a curriculum for all learners, particularly where learning can be viewed as enhancing outcomes for children and young people in later life.¹

Elsewhere in his thesis, Morrison explicitly wishes for schools to overrule religious views and the opinions of parents about sex education for children. Sound familiar, anyone? As America goes, so goes the world.

Thankfully, Morrison’s woke, perverted views on childhood sexuality are getting pushback from brave individuals such as Richard Lucas, leader of the newly founded Scottish Family Party (SFP), who has helped raise awareness of these disturbing developments on SFP’s YouTube channel. In addition, thanks to the efforts of Stef Shaw, a Glasgow cab driver who successfully raised over £10,000 to erect billboards all over Glasgow with the provocative message, “Hey Sturgeon, Leave our kids Alone!  . . . Say NO to new school sex education in Scotland!”,many parents across the nation are writing to their local politicians and Head Teachers demanding action be taken against these radically perverted developments.

Pride Partying Constabulary

The 2022 edition of the annual summer campaign for the advancement of sexual immorality featured police officers in uniform actively taking part in Pride events. In one event in the city of Lincoln, the police force’s social media team posted a video of officers dancing to the “Macarena,” as well as a stream of images showing, among other things, officers taking selfies with drag queens—this at a time when serious crimes, including murders, stabbings, and thefts, are increasing at alarming rates. The scenes sparked outrage from the general public, who are increasingly feeling betrayed by an institution that once vowed to uphold law and order.

Writing for Spiked Magazine, Paul Embery admirably summed up the state of affairs:

The British police force in 2022 bears almost no resemblance to what the public expects a police force to be. In 1829, Sir Robert Peel, the father of modern policing, talked of the police’s need to “secure and maintain public respect.” The police, he said, must “maintain at all times a relationship with the public that gives reality to the historic tradition that the police are the public and that the public are the police.” He could not possibly have imagined how our modern police force has turned out. In recent years, local constabularies have stressed the importance of using the correct personal pronouns, rushed to arrest people for using hurty words on social media and threatened women with prosecution for the distribution of stickers stating biological truths. Last month, police visited a women’s rights activist who had offended the sensibilities of paedophiles.

Worse still, the police have been caught diverting an increasing amount of their resources to policing so-called “hate speech” on social media platforms, rather than doing the job that nearly all taxpayers want them to do, i.e., real policing against real crimes.

One particularly disturbing episode occurred in October 2022, when two police officers, without a warrant, visited Caroline Farrow, a 48-year-old mother of four and wife of an Anglican priest, as she prepared her family meal and then arrested her in front of her children. Several of her electronic devices were seized, and she spent the night in a cell for the crime of voicing her opposition to trans ideology in a tweet.

In an act of desperation to reintroduce some “common sense law and order,” the beleaguered Tory government, in particular the new Home Secretary, Suella Braverman, vowed to get the police back to doing what most people want them to do.

Anti-Racist Racism

British universities have also been poisoned by woke ideology. In an event celebrating Black History Month, the student union at London’s Westminster University banned white students from attending key events.² The hypocrisy didn’t go unnoticed, with one academic from the University of Edinburgh, anthropology lecturer Dr. Neil Thin, tweeting:

Fashionable nonsense 2020s style: activists confuse people by reintroducing racial segregation to “anti-racist” events. Thankfully this is still extremely rare in UK, but if students and lecturers are too scared to comment, please don’t assume this will go away.

A spokesman from the university played the equity card, saying, “Equality of opportunity does not always mean giving everyone access to the same thing; it means creating a level playing field by offering some programmes to those who are underrepresented or those who have had less access to opportunity.”

So instead of upholding meritocratic opportunities, positive discrimination is the order of the day. But that’s what is to be expected from an institution heavily influenced by the Marxist Black Lives Matter movement.

The consensus among ordinary people is that wokeness has gone too far in the UK, and as a result, more journalists, academics, media personalities, and parents are pushing back against the morass of irrationality and virtue signalling wrought by woke institutions. There are also calls for students to boycott universities that promote this nonsense. They’re not all Christians by any means, but there are enough people of good conscience to speak up, expose, and even reverse some of these wicked developments in human society. Game on!
